Safeguarding 101:The Role of the Monitor

Joyride Welfare Manager, Simeon.

Meet The Monitors…

When you step foot into any of our parties, you'll immediately notice a group of individuals who stand out not just because of their amazing lewks, but because of their watchful presence, welcoming energy and flashing armbands.

This is our safeguarding crew, a brilliant bunch of queer individuals trained and committed to safety in sex positive spaces.

They are the beating heart of every party; there to protect the space, greet you and help create a joyful atmosphere.

How Our Monitors Support You

Monitors play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and welcoming aura of our events. They're here to help with:

  • Community Guidelines Violations: If there’s a violation of our community guidelines, our monitors are there to step in and address it.

  • Uncomfortable Experiences: If you experience something that makes you uncomfortable, our monitors are there to listen and help.

  • Wellbeing: if you’re not feeling well and are in need of medical assistance alert a monitor who can take you to the medic space.

  • Bystander Intervention: If you see something that doesn’t feel right or makes you uneasy, our monitors are ready to investigate and take action if necessary.

  • A friendly face: if you’re feeling shy, want to know a little more about the space, or just want a natter, our monitors are approachable and always happy to engage.

Things to Keep in Mind

While our monitors are there to support and protect everyone, it's important to remember their boundaries too.

  • Consent is Key: Just like everyone else, our monitors should not be touched without their consent. Always ask first.

  • Do not ask to play.

  • Respect Pronouns: Before assuming, always ask for their pronouns.

  • Accepting Guidance: If a monitor enforces a guideline, please accept it graciously. We have a zero tolerance policy for any harassment of the monitors.

Where to Find Our Monitors

Our crew will be stationed throughout the club; on the dance floor, in the playrooms, in the smoking area, and at the door. No matter where you find yourself, a monitor will never be far away.
